The Big Apple on a Budget – your New York Holiday

To maximize your New York holidays, you must be very frugal but frugality will definitely depend on a person’s own perception of what is cheap and what is not.

The funny thing about a room in New York is that what is considered a room there is the size of a walk-in closet for most of the country.  The cost of a small room in New York is already the same as that of a big room in other countries.

For those thinking of camping out in Central Park, the movies are a little dramatic but realistic enough to advise against it.  New York City has been the largest city in America since 1790 and it is still growing in number.  Most of the growth is up, so the concentration of people is getting greater and greater each day.

Tourist attractions like the Empire State Building range from $20 for adults and $14 for children under 12.  Visiting the Statue of Liberty is more reasonable, since it is free. But like most things, there is a catch. The statue is located on an island, so you would have to pay to ride the ferry.  The ferry costs $12 for adults and $5 for children who are still under the age of 12.

When making your plans with no accompanied small children, you could consider one of the many hostels that can be stayed at, for under $50 each night.  In this set up, the disadvantage is that you will have to share a bed room and a bathroom, but the saving is tremendous compared to staying in the Plaza at $549 a night. Cheap New York Holidays – New Jersey is the KEY

One very useful tip to go on cheap holidays to New York, USA, is to stay in New Jersey.  The Econo Lodge in Jersey City is only $69.99 a night and the Red Carpet Inn, just down the street, is only $77.81.  This is really a good alternative since Jersey City is only 1.8 miles from New York City.  Taking a train across into Manhattan is easy and presto, you are there in the Big Apple!

New Jersey is fictitiously referred to as the arm pit of New York, but don’t let that fool you. The Giants play there and so do the Jets, so it can’t be that bad.

If you must stay in New York, then may I suggest Brooklyn or the Bronx. There is a lot of history there along with being part of New York City.

Hoboken and Union City are another two cities that are located just across the river, to the west of Manhattan.  It is true that staying in New York is a wonderful experience.  If you would like to have private rooms and still stay in New York City despite tall rates, the lowest possible cost for accommodation that you could find is around $100.  The public transportation is at a reasonable price too, which is around $9 for an all day fare. Looking for a destination for your next exciting trip with friends?  It is high time for you to know that New York offers a lot of options of cheap breaks for you to spend your New York holidays with your peers.

The winter break in New York City is very cold and at times, inhospitable, so the best time to spend a school break and enjoy the sights would be on spring break. This will also allow you to have more time at the top of the Empire State Building where the breeze is constant and where you could take a relaxing, peaceful stroll on the boardwalks.

The borough of Manhattan is where most visitors visit whenever they go to New York City.  There are other popular spots like the Bronx, Staten Island, Brooklyn and Queens, but most of the common attractions are in Manhattan.  These include the Museum at Ground Zero, Central Park, Wall Street, Penn Station, Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, Broadway, and of course, Times Square.

Going to the Big Apple during spring break would be perfect due to the mild temperature, thus extreme temperatures could be avoided.  The ferries to Ellis Island are also pleasant trips that are not too expensive, at $12 per adult.
